About NBQS

New Build Quality Snagging (NBQS) was formed by myself, Steve Phillips, in 2024. This new venture sees me conducting meticulous inspections independently, applying my comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices as I strive to give homeowners confidence in their investment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • BsC in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management

  • NVQ Level 3 in Site Inspection

  • Registered member of RPSA

  • Previous career experience included being an Inspector for the NHBC, and working within Site Management for a top UK new build developer.

  • Cavity Wall Inspections

    Ensuring your new home is properly insulated can help keep your energy bills in check. Our cavity wall inspection will check to ensure your wall are insulated to the highest level, in line with relevant regulations and manufacturers guidance. As part of this inspection, we will also check fire stopping to party walls to provide you with peace of mind in the event of a fire in neighbouring properties.

  • This low-intrusion inspection takes a closer look inside your new build homes cavity with the use of a borescope camera. Unfortunately this is only available on partially-filled cavity walls, as intruding on a fully-filled cavity is more likely to open up cold spots as a result of debris from the inspection process. With fully-filled cavities, a full thermal imaging survey during colder months is recommended.

  • Yes. We carry out inspections Monday-Friday (not including bank holidays) between 10:00-17:00. You'll be able to choose a date to suit you, however we usually require all inspections to start at 10:00am. We may be able accomodate a later start; please contact us via email to request prior to booking: steve@nbqs.co.uk.

  • This will largely depend on the size of the property, however as a guide, thorough inspections can take up to five hours.

  • Our inspectors are highly qualified and experienced. You can find out more here.

  • Inspection reports will be sent out via email as a PDF document, usually within 24 hours (excluding bank holidays and weekends). Your report will include pictures and detailed descriptions of each item found.
